The Credentials

Therapists and counselors list their credentials to let clients know about their education and professional license(s).  Here are the credentials associated with our name:

w  NCC (National Certified Counselor) -- NCCs are certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.  These counselors hold at least a Master's degree and must fulfill certain supervision and experience requirements as well as pass the National Counselor Exam.

w  MAC (Master Addictions Counselor) -- MACs are certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.  This credential requires certification as an NCC and special training in addictions counseling.  These counselors must pass the National Exam for Master Addictions Counselors.  MACs may also be certified by the Association for Addiction Professionals. 

w  SAP (Substance Abuse Professional) – SAPs evaluate employees who have violated a Department of Transportation drug and alcohol regulation and make recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.  SAPs must meet a variety of requirements, including specialized credentials and training.  Information regarding SAPs can be found on the Department of Transportation SAP webpage.

w  MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) -- Nevada MFTs are licensed by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors.  These counselors hold at least a Master's degree in counseling or related field with special training in marriage and family therapy. MFTs must pass a written and oral exam.  Registered MFT Interns have passed the Board Exams and the oral exam and are completing the required internship hours under the supervision of a licensed AAMFT approved MFT supervisor.

w  LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) -- Nevada LADCs are licensed by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug, and Gambling Counselors.  These counselors hold at least a Master's degree in counseling or related field and have specific training and supervision hours in alcohol and drug abuse counseling.  LADCs must pass a written and oral exam.
